History

Bruck Fabrics was established in the city of Wangaratta (North Eastern Victoria, Australia) in 1946.

Bruck became a working destination, attracting workers from all over Australia and Europe following the Second World War. Many workers came from Bonegilla, which was a well-known migrant camp near Wodonga, Victoria. Between 1947 and 1971 over 300,000 migrants from more than 50 countries called Bonegilla their first “Aussie home.” Many migrants found employment in the textile industry, in Wangaratta.

As a result of the employment opportunities created by the Bruck manufacturing facility and the influx of new migrant workers to Wangaratta, the township was spectacularly transformed over the period of 1946 to 1963.

Bruck began as a manufacturer and supplier of furnishing and apparel fabrics for fashion markets.

Bruck saw significant growth during the 1950s to the 1970s in line with the National growth of retail and the general economy. Following a rapid reduction in import tariffs and quotas for textiles, in the 1980’s and 1990’s, the supply chain for traditional apparel and furnishings products began relocating to low cost countries and Bruck began to transform from a vertically integrated synthetic fabric manufacturer to a technical fabrics specialist.

Today Bruck provides innovative high quality technical textile solutions which add value to our customers’ businesses and superior benefits to end users. Bruck is driven to provide high performance and comfortable protective textile solutions for personnel in Defence, Firefighting and Emergency Services, Industrial and Corporate wear, globally.
